Dan Anstey joins Nine in permanent Today weather role

Dan Anstey will join Nine permanently in 2027, presenting Today weather from Monday to Wednesday and co-hosting Weekend Today alongside Alison Piotrowski and Lizzie Pearl.

The appointment follows four years of weather presenting and hosting across both programs. Anstey will relocate from Brisbane to Sydney with his wife and two children in the new year.

A permanent place on Nine’s morning roster

Nine’s director of morning television, Steven Burling, said the appointment secured an established presence across the network’s breakfast programs.

“Dan is a familiar and much-loved face to audiences through his hosting and weather presenting on both programs over the past four years. He is one of the sharpest and most exciting talents out there, and we’re lucky to have him as a permanent part of the team from next year.”

The dual role will see Anstey combine weekday weather reporting with weekend studio hosting, covering news, sport and entertainment alongside Piotrowski and Pearl.

‘The best of both worlds’

Anstey said: “I feel like a kid in a candy store who got to choose my two favourite lollies. This truly is the best of both worlds - getting out with our viewers when presenting weather and then joining Ali and Lizzie in studio bringing the latest news, sport and entertainment each weekend. I can’t wait to be part of it all, and am pumped for what 2027 holds!”

Nine said his appointment rounds out the Today hosting lineup for 2027, which includes Sylvia Jeffreys, Tom Steinfort, Jayne Azzopardi, Michael Atkinson, Richard Wilkins and Renee Bargh.
