Class of 2020: Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! returns with more torture

• First to arrive on Sunday was celebrity chef Miguel Maestre

The sixth season of the ITV-produced I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here series for Network 10 returned last night with 10 contestants entering the jungle – two fewer than last year. But wait, 10 will reveal another two on Monday evening.

First to arrive on Sunday was celebrity chef Miguel Maestre, who is about as subtle as sledgehammer. With more energy than a toddler on a sugar high, the eager Spaniard was keen to meet everyone.

Former ABC music guru on radio and TV and SBS Eurovision co-host Myf Warhurst entered next, followed by Australia’s favourite chippy and former Seven regular Tom Williams. Looking like he was about to board a yacht in the South of France, Tom proved it pays to have a designer wife.

Reality television royalty from Geordie Shore Charlotte Crosby was next to arrive and the first thing on her mind was a drink and a nervous poo (and not in that order!) The British bombshell proved she was every bit an Australian, kicking off her stilettos like it was 4pm on Melbourne Cup Day.

Rugged reality star Ryan Gallagher rocked up next and was just excited to be a part of anything that isn’t Married At First Sight. Charlotte was most impressed to see him, battering her false lashes and telling the camera that they have had a flirt on social media.

The welcoming party was cut short by hosts Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris, who told the famous five that they would be participating in a trial of epic proportions, called Falling Stars, that would see them bungee jump out of a chopper into the camp.

There were tears, tantrums and the occasional profanity, but Miguel, Myf, Tom and Ryan mustered up the courage to partake and win four stars for camp. A defeated Charlotte became the first celebrity to mutter those infamous words “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!”

The next group of celebrities then met for the first time.

A queen of the stage and screen, Rhonda Burchmore entered the only way she knows how… over the top. In a head-turning leopard print number, she shimmied past the jungle dancers and declared she likes a snake or two (just not one in the jungle!).

Married comedian Nikki Osborne entered next and she had one thing on her mind, and that was to sniff out any hot jungle fellas. Well, how else does she cash in on her marriage hall pass?

Blonde bombshell Erin Barnett from Nine’s Love Island rocked up next, and declared she will totes nail jungle life… so long as she gets a full 13 hours sleep.

Internet sensation and radio broadcaster Tanya Hennessy arrived next and declared she is scared of everything. Wrong show hun!

And last but not least, the man with the best eyebrows in television, Dilruk Jayasinha, proved fashion is pain. Dressed to the nines in a blazer and long pants, a 40 degree swelter of a day wasn’t going to ruin this man’s welcoming parade.

As the series launched last night, Network 10 revealed I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! will be matching dollar for dollar all the proceeds raised in support of the celebrities chosen charities to the state based fire services and other charities supporting those affected by the bushfires.
