97.3 FM 12.5% (11.0%)

2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 12.5% (9.0%)
Best breakfast 11.2% (9.0%)

Talk about amazing recoveries. After cancelling breakfast just earlier this month, the station has recovered with its best station and breakfast shares of the year. Bianca, Mike and Bob had a tough year which moved ARN to replace them, but a farewell breakfast share of 12.5% seems to indicate they weren’t performing too badly in their final survey. The station is also market leader in morning and afternoon, while it is more competitive and not far off the pace in drive.

104.5 Triple M 10.9% (11.0%)

2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 12.4% (10.0%)
Best breakfast 11.7% (10.2%)

The new Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody breakfast show is now equal #2 behind only a show that no longer exists as Triple M breakfast share lifted 0.5 to 11.0%. The station strengthened its lead 40-54, with share up 2.4 to 20.8%.

Hit 105 10.7% (11.1%)

2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 11.8% (9.4%)
Best breakfast 12.0% (9.5%)

Challenging survey at three of the four commercial FM stations. Stav, Abby and Matt end the year equal #2 behind 97.3. Hit lost leadership 18-24 where they now trail Nova, but Hit is now new #1 25-39, taking over from…Nova!

Nova 106.9 10.4% (11.9%)

2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 12.9% (10.4%)
Best breakfast 12.9% (10.1%)

This is the station’s lowest share in over four years while breakfast is close to a four-year low. However breakfast climbed out of a hole at the end of 2018 and Nova could do the same to start 2020. Although drive tumbled 2.6 to 14.1%, Kate, Tim and Marty remain clear market leaders on 14.1%. Big swings in demo shares which might be corrected soon – 25-39 was down 7.8, but 18-24 was up 4.8 where Nova now ranks #1.

4KQ 8.2% (8.7%)

2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 10.5% (7.9%)
Best breakfast 10.5% (8.2%)

Evening suffered the biggest move with share down 2.8 to 6.1%. Breakfast was down 0.7 to 8.5%, but morning was up 0.8 to 8.8%. Share improved 55-64 with a rise of 2.4 to 19.6% to remain #1 in the demo.

4BC 6.3% (6.4%)

2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 7.8% (5.5%)
Best breakfast 9.4% (6.4%)

Alan Jones was steady at breakfast on 8.1%. Morning and afternoon lost close to 1.0 each while evening was up 1.6 to 7.2%. The drive slot was down 0.1 to 3.9%.

Macquarie Sports 882 0.7% (0.9%)

2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 1.5% (0.5%)
Best breakfast 1.5% (0.5%)

The already small shares all dipped again with breakfast now on 0.7%. The station has had worse this year though as the stats above indicate. Evening is the best share on 1.4%. Pity Macquarie Sports Network’s BBL coverage is largely outside of survey periods.
