BINGE has confirmed it will not renew FBoy Island Australia for a third season.
The decision ends the local version of the US dating format after two seasons on the Foxtel-owned streaming service.
The announcement follows activity on the show’s official Instagram account as recently as October 2024, where posts called for contestant applications and hinted at hopes for another season.
One post read: “Ladies, FBoys and Nice Guys – DM us your contact details if you’d like to find love (or money) on the Island… We’re crossing our FBoy fingers for a Season 3.”
Another added: “FBoy, F Bye, For Now. Let’s manifest another epic season next year.”
In a statement to Mediaweek, a Foxtel Group spokesperson confirmed the cancellation: “Over two wild and entertaining seasons, FBoy Island Australia flipped traditional dating formats on its head and amongst all of jokes, laughter and questionable behaviour the show challenged gender dynamics and encouraged men to be accountable for their bad behaviour.
The series was a BINGE Original produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia. Season one premiered in May 2023, with season two arriving in August 2024.
The format followed three women on a search for love, while half the male contestants identified as “nice guys” and the other half as “FBoys” competing for a cash prize.
Host Abbie Chatfield has previously spoken about her experience on the show, particularly her admiration for the production team. “The crew worked so hard on this. And there’s such long hours from everyone – from runners to camera people, to soundos, to the EPs and the producers and the story producers and the post producers – like everyone on that set,” she said.
FBoy Island Australia’s cancellation comes during a period of change for Foxtel and its streaming brands. Earlier this year, Foxtel, including BINGE, was sold to UK-based sports streaming company DAZN in a deal worth $3.4 billion.
