Are Media has expanded its beauty business with the creation of a dedicated beauty division, appointing former MECCA and Myer content leader Tara Lamont-Djite as its inaugural Head of Beauty, Luxury while promoting two long-serving editorial staff into newly created roles.

The new division brings together marie claire, ELLE, Beauty Crew, Beauty Heaven and Beauty Directory under a single beauty leadership structure as the publisher looks to strengthen one of its fastest-growing content categories.

New leadership for beauty portfolio

Lamont-Djite joins Are Media after senior content roles at Myer and MECCA, where she was Head of Content Strategy.

Before returning to Australia, she spent several years in New York in senior editorial positions across Hearst titles including ELLE, marie claire and Harper's BAZAAR, alongside roles with WSJ. Magazine, T Magazine, Bazaar.com and Beautylish. She began her publishing career at InStyle magazine in Australia.

As Head of Beauty, Luxury, Lamont-Djite will oversee content strategy and creative direction across Are Media's beauty brands. She starts on August 10.

Nicky Briger, General Manager, Luxury, Are Media, said the investment reflects the company's ambitions for the category.

“Beauty is one of the biggest opportunities in our business, and we are investing in the people and capabilities required to realise its full potential."

She added:

“By connecting our beauty expertise across marie claire, ELLE and our dedicated beauty platforms, we can take a more holistic, audience-led approach to the category, creating richer content experiences for consumers and more integrated opportunities for our partners across all platforms.”

Lamont-Djite said:

"I'm thrilled to be joining Are Media and working alongside the brilliant teams behind such iconic brands. There's so much opportunity to tell new beauty stories across different platforms, and I can't wait to get started.”

Briger added:

“Tara brings a rare combination of editorial instinct, category expertise and commercial acumen, developed across some of the world’s leading beauty and luxury brands. We are thrilled to have her leading this next chapter as we strengthen our beauty proposition, invest in new talent and prepare for the upcoming relaunches of Beauty Crew and Beauty Heaven.”

Internal promotions expand team

Alongside Lamont-Djite's appointment, Are Media has promoted Delaney Loane to the newly created role of Beauty Editor, Luxury.

Loane was previously Digital Managing Editor of Beauty Crew and Beauty Heaven and has worked across the publisher's brands for more than a decade, including roles at ELLE.

Briar Clark has also been promoted to the newly created role of Beauty Writer, Luxury after serving as Digital Content Producer for Beauty Crew and Beauty Heaven. Before joining Are Media, she worked as a fashion and beauty writer at Refinery29.

The appointments form part of Are Media's broader strategy to consolidate its beauty brands under a dedicated division as it prepares to relaunch Beauty Crew and Beauty Heaven.
