Can you feel the butterflies? Can you sense a connection? Can you see a spark? In 2022, First Dates Australia is ready to help singles from all over the country find a very special someone – and hopefully nurture any spark into love.

The program was axed by Channel Seven in October 2020 after four seasons, with Seven’s director of production Andrew Backwell telling TV Tonight that they were instead “really concentrating on these big shows that can play multiple nights a week.”

In August this year, 10 officially confirmed they had picked the show up.

First Dates

With no competition and no eliminations, the fly-on-the-wall series leaves plenty of space for love to blossom as it captures the nervous excitement that comes with every first date.

Paired by relationship experts, single strangers looking for love will meet for a dinner date like no other. The hidden cameras will be there to capture each spine-tingling moment as it happens – from those all-important first impressions to that final, nervous goodnight.

Daniel Monaghan, senior vice president, content and programming, ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand, said: “First Dates Australia is a heart-warming new addition to 10’s love line-up.

“Authentic and relatable, we’re sure our audience will form an instant connection with First Dates Australia, and we’re excited to see our singles’ love stories unfold.”

Michael Brooks, managing director, Warner Bros. Australia, said: “First Dates is one of the most successful dating formats in the world and we are excited to reimagine the show on 10.

“This powerhouse franchise, which includes successful spin-offs First Dates Hotel and First Dates Teens, is full of heart, laughter and love and we plan to bring the First Dates brand back to Aussie audiences in a big and exciting way.”

First Dates Australia is a Warner Bros. production for Network 10.
