Adelaide Radio Ratings 2022 Survey 2: Nova and Mix 102.3 tie for #1

Mix 102.3 has made the most of its strong start to 2022, and continues to turn around the slide it faced at the end of 2021. They tie for first place in this survey, with Nova also recording a share of 11.8%.

This is the second survey since Ali Clarke made the jump from ABC Radio Adelaide to Mix 102.3. Previously, Mark “Soda” Soderstrom had been hosting breakfast alongside Erin Phillips, who now joins Clarke and comedian Eddie Bannon in the mornings.

It’s early days for the show, but the signs are good. The Mix 102.3 breakfast show has risen 1.8 points for a total share of 9.9% – making it now the third commercial breakfast show in Adelaide

In the afternoon, Will and Woody‘s national drive show has kept its place of second overall in the timeslot after a boost of 0.6 points.

Radio ratings fortunes can turn on a dime, and this survey has seen Nova jump from Adelaide’s fourth commercial station to equal first overall. Survey one saw Nova record the station’s lowest share in upwards of six years of 9.2%, but a rise of 2.6 points has given the station its highest result since the start of 2020 and pulled it into line with Mix 102.3’s 11.8%.

An addition of 29,000 in cume this survey means that Nova 91.9 has risen a total of 60,000 in cume since the final survey of 2021.

In breakfast, Ben and Liam are up a huge 3.5 points to 12.3% making them the #1 commercial breakfast show in the market. In drive,  Kate, Tim and Joel have taken the top spot in drive again with a share of 14.2%, up 1.4 points.

Nova has seen most of its gains in the 10-17 demographic, where it rose a massive 10.5% (for a total of 32.1%). Following closely behind is the 18-24 demographic with a 6.2% rise.

A rise of 0.7 points for a share of 11.3% has seen Cruise 1323 claim a comfortable second place overall.

John Dean‘s breakfast show has jumped a spot to become the #4 commercial show with a share of 9.0%, while Mark Elliston’s drive has stayed steady as the #4 commercial show with 7.2%. 

Cruise has kept its strong grip on weekends, remaining the top station.

Despite a slide of 1.4 points, FIVEaa remains above SAFM and 5MMM this survey – however its lead on SAFM is only by 0.1 points. 

In the breakfast slot, David and Will have slid 3.5 points for a total share of 11.6%. While Nova’s Ben and Liam have taken their title of #1 commercial breakfast show in Adelaide, David and Will are still solidly in second.

Hot on the heels of FIVEaa, SAFM has risen 0.1 points for a share of 8.6%. 

The breakfast team of Bec, Cosi & Lehmo has risen 0.6 points for a total of 7.7%, while Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little’s national drive show has remained #3 overall after a 0.2 point jump. 

SAFM has kept its #1 overall spot amongst the 25-39 demographics, with 20.1%.

5MMM 7.6% (8.4%)

After recording the biggest slide of survey one, 5MMM has continued to drop 0.8 points overall for a total of a 7.6% share. This is the station’s lowest result since survey one 2020.

The breakfast team of Roo, Ditts, and Loz has slid 0.9 points coming to a total of 8.9%. 

At the other end of the day, this is the second survey since Triple M introduced its local Rush Hour drive shows across the country. In Adelaide, The Rush Hour with Bernie, Blewey, and Jars has moved forward from its previous 6pm timeslot to 4pm. The team has dipped 0.1 points for a total of 7.0%.

5MMM has also held on to its title as the top station for 40-54 with a total of 12.9%.
