Adelaide Radio Ratings 2020: GfK Survey 1

• GfK Survey 1: January 19 – February 29

Mix #1 overall and breakfast, Fiveaa audience still on holidays
• Cruise only commercial station to lift share in survey 1

UP: Cruise 1323 +1.0
DOWN: Fiveaa -2.8

Mix 102.3 12.6% (13.6%)

Cume 320,000 (-10,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 13.9% (11.9%)
Best breakfast 13.5% (10.8%)

The station flirted with life under 12% at one stage last year and then had a strong recovery in the year’s final survey. This book the station is down a point and breakfast down by 0.5. Falls elsewhere mean Mix breakfast with Mark Soderstrom and Erin Phillips now ranks #1 commercial. Mix remains strong across the day despite drops in afternoon and drive.

Nova 91.9 11.0% (11.0%)

Cume 341,000 (+4,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 12.0% (10.3%)
Best breakfast 10.9% (9.4%)

They came, they conquered, almost. Ben and Liam have posted solid results even if they haven’t quite yet conquered the market after flipping from triple j to a small metro market. What the new hosts have done is maintain the previous share. The steady breakfast ratings have been good news for morning which jumped 1.3. Drive was strong too with Kate, Tim and Marty still #1 on an improved share of 16.0% (+0.3). Station share among kids 10-17 jumped 7.6 to 33.5%.

Fiveaa 8.1% (10.9%)

Cume 140,000 (-26,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 11.1% (9.0%)
Best breakfast 14.2% (11.1%)

The ABC seems to have picked up some of the Fiveaa audience in this summer survey which wouldn’t be a surprise given the bushfires and the aftermath. Breakfast with David Penberthy and Will Goodings dipped, no make that dropped, 3.7 to 10.5%, the lowest breakfast share in over four years. While all dayparts were down, new afternoon announcer Tony Pilkington held on best with share down 1.0.

Cruise 1323 10.6% (9.6%)

Cume 195,000 (no change)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 9.3% (8.6%)
Best breakfast 7.1% (5.9%)

The only station to build share this survey did it in daytime listening and weekends where Cruise now ranks as Adelaide’s overall #1 station. Mix was the previous weekend champ.

Hit 107 8.9% (9.3%)

Cume 252,000 (+1,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 10.0% (7.9%)
Best breakfast 9.7% (7.1%)

Breakfast has the equal lowest share at the station on 8.4%. That’s not great for Adelaide, but it looks pretty good when you compare it to sister station Triple M, or as the survey book in Adelaide insists, 5MMM.

5MMM 7.2% (8.6%)

Cume 191,000 (-33,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 10.0% (8.4%)
Best breakfast 10.1% (8.2%)

We said it was a tough survey to end 2019, but this is worse. Breakfast on 6.6% is close to a Triple M lowest ever alert. Footy starts soon and hopefully for the station some of the audience bounces back. Also sharing the losses this month were morning and afternoon.
