Somewhere in Hollywood, a publicist is staring into the middle distance, wondering how an awards show dripping in couture, celebrity, and self-regard managed to lose a ratings arm-wrestle to a nearly 20-year-old Indiana Jones sequel.
Yet here we are.
The Golden Globes rescreening on Ten delivered a muted result, ranking as the 11th-most-watched program of the day (yikes) despite the awards ceremony’s global profile and its earlier live broadcast on subscription service Paramount+.
The replay drew 1.106 million viewers, trailing the 2008 film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which came in at seventh place, amassing 1.321 million viewers.

The heart wants what the heart wants.
The numbers clearly showcase the challenge facing awards reruns in a crowded free-to-air schedule.
Perhaps this is why the Academy Awards team decided to award YouTube the rights to host the event from 2029, in a deal that runs through 2033.
The deal will kick off with the 101st ceremony in 2029, YouTube will stream the Oscars live and for free globally, with the red carpet, behind-the-scenes access and Governors Ball coverage all part of the package.
Meanwhile, here’s how the rest of the day’s ratings played out…
