• Loki has also been officially renewed for a second season

After claiming the top position on all four charts last week, Loki has backed up its performance and enjoyed the same result this week. The third Marvel TV show to be released on Disney+ this year is also the first to be officially renewed for a second season – an announcement that was made during the credits of the season finale this week.

The show weaves its way in and out of timelines, as the mysterious TVA works to keep variants under control and “prune” any branches from the Sacred Timeline. With the finale this week blowing the timeline open and ending on a major cliffhanger, fans are all but convinced that the ending will lead into Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. They’ll have to wait though, Multiverse of Madness isn’t due for release until March next year.

In Australia, Loki has come in at a massive 36.83 points above market average, and 26.73 points above market average in New Zealand.

The success of Loki seems to have had an impact on the other two Marvel shows on Disney+. WandaVision in particular has been listed to second place on both Digital Original charts.

Long time favourite Rick and Morty continues to climb on the charts as its fifth season continues. With its only competition being Loki, Rick and Morty has landed at second on both Overall charts.

Rick and Morty‘s showrunner Scott Marder has said that he thinks the idea of a potential movie for the series directed by Zack Snyder would be a good idea.

“I think that’s really cool,” Marder said. “I really enjoyed Army of the Dead. I think he’s in a really cool space of his own right now. I’m excited to see what he’ll do in this Netflix world where people aren’t really interfering with his vision as much.”

This week Rick and Morty averaged 27.49 points above market average in Australia and 21.68 points in New Zealand. It has placed second in both Overall charts.
