Triple murderer Erin Patterson learns the fate of her appeal
Patterson appealed against her three life sentences and non-parole period.

Triple murderer Erin Patterson’s conviction appeal has been dismissed.
Her 33-year non-parole period was set aside and no new parole period was imposed - meaning Patterson will never be eligible for release.
“This offence was extraordinarily cold and calculated,” Justice McLeish said.
“After anxious and careful consideration, the case involved such shocking criminality it is not appropriate to fix a non parole period.”
Justice McLeish said Patterson, 52, was granted leave to appeal on two of her seven grounds, but neither challenge succeeded.
He added that Patterson's conduct was characterised by "an elaborate series of deceptions".
Justice McLeish raised her false cancer claim, the destruction of evidence, the planning of the lunch and the "cruel breach of trust" of her relatives.

The mother of two is currently serving three life sentences with a non-parole period of 33 years after she was found her guilty of murdering her parents-in-laws Don and Gail Patterson, along with Gail's sister, Heather Wilkinson, in 2023.
Patterson was also found guilty of the attempted murder of Mrs Wilkinson's husband, Korumburra church pastor Ian Wilkinson, who survived after falling gravely ill from the poisoning.
The victims had been invited to lunch at Patterson's Leongatha home, in Victoria's south-east, where she served them death cap mushrooms inside of a dish called beef Wellington.
