‘The White Lotus’ is returning but with a European twist

HBO hasn’t renewed its marketing partnership with the Four Seasons hotel chain.

HBO’s award winning drama series “The White Lotus” is set to take its luxurious detour to France, after delivering multiple glamorous locations from the Four Seasons jungle resort in Koh Samui to the heavenly beaches of Hawaii.

While Season 4 is confirmed, it is still in the development period and production will not start until next year. But the show cannot seem to stop promising scenic upgrades.

As per Variety, the writer and creator Mike White will hit the road to shoot Season 4 across Paris and the French Riviera.

While there is no official confirmation yet, sources hint that the network has been exploring five star properties, including the historic Le Lutetia in Paris and the Ritz Paris, as potential filming locations.

Iconic upgrade

Le Lutetia, a grand hotel on the Left Bank in Saint Germain des Prés, has a storied history of hosting icons such as Charlie Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, and Pablo Picasso, to name a few.

The famous Ritz Paris, another landmark property, has long been synonymous with old world glamour and was famously frequented by Coco Chanel, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Marcel Proust.

The studio might have broken its ties with the Four Seasons hotel chain, which generously hosted the series’ previous seasons in Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand.

The network’s decision to move toward other luxury venues signals a new era of indulgent escapism for the series.

‘Always room for a murder’

Creator Mike White is known for teasing White Lotus fans with cryptic messages about each season’s theme, like the clue he left following the Season 3 finale, which gave fans something to decode for Season 4.

“For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves on rocks vernacular,” he teased.

“But there is always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”
