Sky News in 2022: New hosts, new timeslots and channel preps for election

What’s new from Paul Murray, Piers Morgan, Rita Panahi, Ross Greenwood, Erin Molan and Joe Hildebrand

Sky News Australia has revealed its 2022 programming line-up featuring new hosts, new programs and a new primetime programming schedule.

Joining the Sky News team exclusively in 2022, international broadcaster and commentator Piers Morgan will launch his new primetime program. The program will also air in the UK and US as part of a global News Corporation initiative. Details of the Piers Morgan show will be announced in the coming weeks, but from the new schedule it seems it could run from Tuesday to Saturday at 9.30pm.

Sky News business editor Ross Greenwood joins the weekday program line-up, hosting Business Now with Ross Greenwood each Monday to Friday at 4:30pm, with a wrap of the day’s business, finance and economic news, just as the markets close each day. Greenwood will also continue to host Business Weekend at 11:00am on Sunday.

Sky News also welcomes journalist and commentator Joe Hildebrand who will share his take on issues big and small each Friday at 8:30pm with his new political quiz-style program The Blame Game.

Erin Molan also joins Sky News in 2022 as Sky News primetime contributor and will play a key role across Sky News primetime programming.

Sky News timeslot changes

Paul Murray Live moves to an earlier timeslot of 8:00pm Sunday – Thursday. Murray continues his tour of regional Australia in 2022 with Paul Murray Live Our Town. He will also be on the road during the election campaign with his ppular Paul Murray Live “Pub Tests” putting policies and promises to the test with the help of voters in key electorates.

Unchanged is the early evening line-up of The Kenny Report at 5:00pm, Peta Credlin at 6:00pm and The Bolt Report at 7:00pm.

Rita Panahi new in primetime

Broadcaster and columnist Rita Panahi launches The Rita Panahi Show, a new primetime program bringing her at-times controversial take on local and international issues to viewers. This will initially be scheduled at 9:30pm Monday – Thursday, then become a permanent fixture every Monday night later this year, once the Piers Morgan program launches.

The Front Page with Jenna Clarke will also move to the earlier timeslot of 10:30pm, giving viewers the first look at tomorrow’s news even earlier.

New Sky News investigative documentaries

New for 2022 will be MH370: The Final Search, a follow-up by Peter Stefanovic to MH370: The Untold Story, which remains the highest-ever rating Sky News documentary. Sky News host Peta Credlin will present a new documentary giving you an insider’s view on what really goes on during the political party election campaigns ahead of the looming Federal Election. Erin Molan will host a new documentary focusing on online safety, an issue she has strongly advocated for which resulted in the passing of new legislation last year.

2022 will be the biggest year in election coverage yet on Sky News as the channel comprehensively covers the Federal Election, and the South Australian and Victorian State Elections

With the Federal Election due by May, the award-winning team of Sky News political journalists including Kieran Gilbert, Andrew Clennell, Laura Jayes, Ashleigh Gillon, Tom Connell and Peter Stefanovic will bring viewers every moment that unfolds on the campaign trail with insights from Paul Murray, Peta Credlin, Andrew Bolt, Sharri Markson, Rita Panahi, Chris Kenny and more.

Big plans for Foxtel’s #1 channel

Paul Whittaker, Sky News Australia, chief executive officer said: “In 2021, our 25th year, we continued to build on our record audiences of 2020, ending the year as the #1 channel on Foxtel and the #1 Australian news channel on social media for the second consecutive year.
