ABC performance metrics dip in 2025

According to Crikey’s Danyaal Saeed, the ABC’s new annual report shows a softer year across key benchmarks, with audience trust, accuracy and perceived community value all edging down.

Nothing catastrophic, but enough to signal the public broadcaster is feeling the same headwinds as the rest of legacy media.

Question cut from Trump ’60 Minutes’ interview

A pointed crypto corruption question to President Trump has disappeared from the video versions of his latest 60 Minutes sit-down.

As The Daily Beast’s Cameron Adams details, Trump bristled at the line of questioning, but audiences never saw it in the broadcast or the extended online cut.

The exchange still sits in the official written transcript, which you can read here.

Paramount renews Jon Stewart

While the network might be trimming elsewhere, Jon Stewart is staying put.

As Variety’s Brian Steinberg writes, Stewart has signed on for another year fronting The Daily Show once a week, and will remain executive producer through 2026.

Radio

John Singleton circles Nine Radio

According to Steve Jackson in The Australian, Singo is once again flirting with radio ownership, quietly noodling plans for a potential run at Nine’s audio assets, including 2GB, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR.

There’s now whispers Today Show co-host Karl Stefanovic is on Singo’s wishlist. He’s no stranger to radio, either, thanks to his 2GB stint in 2019.

OpenAI inks mega cloud deal with Amazon

Another week, another eye-watering cloud commitment from OpenAI.

As the BBC’s Michael Sheils McNamee, Danielle Kaye report, the ChatGPT maker has reportedly struck a seven year, $38 billion contract with Amazon to secure serious compute power, tapping into AWS infrastructure and Nvidia chips to keep its AI engines humming.
