Mark Barrett to depart Yakkazoo

Mark Barrett - Yakkazoo

“We are grateful for his contribution to the business and wish him all the very best for the future”

Mark Barrett has announced his departure from Yakkazoo as its managing director.

Barrett, who co-founded the independent agency in 2017, is set to further explore his passion for art and culture. His final day at Yakkazoo will be in June.

In a statement, Michael Fishwick, VMG Group CEO, called Barrett an “integral and valued member of both Yakkazoo and the broader VMG leadership team for the past four years.”

“Mark helped oversee the successful merger between Yakkazoo and Frontier Media to create a fully integrated agency.

“He is passionate about art and culture and was instrumental in establishing our VMG Art Series featuring a number of rotating art exhibitions in our Melbourne headquarters,” he said.

“While we are sad to see Mark go, we are grateful for his contribution to the business and wish him all the very best for the future as he pursues his other interests,” he added.

Looking ahead to Barrett’s replacement, Fishwick noted: “We’re looking forward to announcing new leadership for Yakkazoo shortly.”

Barrett founded back in 2017 after leaving The Imagination Group.

The agency began as a creative content agency that specialised in supporting integrated agencies from a creative strategy content point of view. The business was sold to the Venetian Media Group in 2019 and in earlier 2022, merged with Frontier Media.

As managing director, Barrett led a team of 47 full-time staff and ten permalancers. He also oversaw the business across its offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Singapore.
