Kate Bonanno exits Sony Music Australia

She will be moving into artist management.

Sony Music Australia’s senior director of publicity and promotions, Kate Bonanno, is wrapping up her time at the label, confirming she will finish on Thursday, 11 December, before moving into artist management.

Bonanno, a well-known figure across the industry’s publicity circuit, told colleagues she’s stepping in as the “day-to-day manager” for ARIA Award-winning duo Angus & Julia Stone.

The move marks a significant shift from major-label comms to hands-on artist strategy, and positions her at the centre of one of Australia’s most enduring music brands.

“Thank you to all of the amazing people who made this decade one to remember, especially to my dear friend and mentor Grant Donges – thank you for calling me 10 years ago and offering me a job,” Bonanno said in a statement.

“A huge shoutout to my amazing team – the best promo and publicity team on the planet…and to the beautiful friends I have made along the way, you know who you are/

“I walked in with stars in my eyes, excited to work hard and learn all I could.”

Bonanno first joined Sony Music Australia in 2016, working as its Senior Manager, National Television Promotions. She took on the Senior Director of Publicity role in 2019, before being elevated to the expanded position in November 2024.

Prior to her time at Sony, Bonanno held several positions at major companies such as Warner Music Australia and NOVA Entertainment.
