Mike Byrne joins Capital Radio Network as content chief
Mike Byrne will oversee content across Capital Radio Network's stations when he begins a Canberra-based role in October.

Capital Radio Network has appointed Mike Byrne as group content director, with the radio executive to begin the Canberra-based role in early October.
Byrne will oversee content strategy across the network’s broadcast and digital platforms, bringing more than three decades of programming, content and leadership experience to the role.
Capital Radio Network chief executive Rick Lenarcic said the appointment marked a step forward for the group’s content strategy.
“Mike is one of Australia's most accomplished content leaders. His track record speaks for itself, but just as importantly, he's a great cultural fit for our team. His experience, passion for radio and understanding of local audiences will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our stations, our digital platforms and our connection with listeners.”
Return to radio leadership
Byrne said he had admired Capital Radio Network from afar and was looking forward to joining the business.

“It's an exciting time to join the Capital Radio Network; it's a team I've admired from afar for years, based in a city I've grown to love over the past 2 years, and when Rick threw in unlimited man-hugs, how could I say no?”
The appointment follows Byrne’s brief tenure as network content director at Super Radio Network, which began in February. He departed the company in April, three months after joining the regional broadcaster.
Byrne had returned to radio through the role after working as a coach-captain for Port Stephens Coaches following his redundancy from ARN.
WSFM ratings milestone
Before joining Super Radio Network, Byrne spent five years as WSFM’s content director.
ARN made Byrne redundant in November 2024, shortly after WSFM reached number one overall in the Sydney radio ratings for the first time since converting to FM.
His career has also included senior roles with Southern Cross Austereo, Grant Broadcasters and the Australian Radio Network.
Byrne will be based in Canberra when he starts with Capital Radio Network next month.
Capital Radio Network operates stations across the ACT, southern New South Wales, Gippsland and Perth. Its brands include 2CA, 2CC, XLFM, GN FM, 3GG, 6iX, Snow FM and Eagle FM.
