Good Weekend is bringing back the special edition magazine, Tennis, ahead of the Australian Open. The magazine will be published through The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, and online through the BrisbaneTimes and WAtoday.
The publication, which was run for the first time last year, will feature insights into the lives of some of the most well-known elite athletes in the world, including 24-year-old Alex de Minaur, who is the first Australian male to make the Top 10 since Lleyton Hewitt.
Elsewhere in the issue, as global conflicts dominate headlines, Ukrainian player Elina Svitolina reveals how she’s playing for much more than trophies these days, as the 25th-ranked female player using the sport to shine a light on her war-torn country.
Tennis also features stories on the new breed of Grand Slam mums, led by returning star Naomi Osaka; and the two big C’s of tennis – Carlos Alcaraz from Spain and American Coco Gauff.
2022 Australian Open Women’s Singles champion Ash Barty also chats about her life away from the court and asks if she’s missing the professional circuit after retirement.
Good Weekend editor Katrina Strickland said her team is delighted to bring readers “so many great stories in this issue”.

The 2024 Australian Open will kick off on Sunday, January 14 and air across Nine’s Channel 9HD and 9GemHD with streaming on 9Now.
