Those Batman Sightings on Top of the Sydney Opera House Aren’t For a Film

If you were in Sydney today and spotted Batman atop the Sydney Opera House, you probably thought you were daydreaming, or your Bat Signal was finally working and the Dark Knight had answered your call.

Alas, now we know the real reason.

Though Nine reported that NSW Police said the Batman sightings were to do with “a film currently shooting in town,” it can be revealed that it was actually a stunt to celebrate Batman Day… so no, that wasn’t Robert Pattinson filming The "Batman 2".

While that may have just been rehearsals, the real spot will take place at 6pm this Saturday (September 19th), where fans are encouraged to celebrate the national day for the Caped Crusader at the iconic landmark.

DC celebrates national Batman Day every year on the third Saturday of September. Events are held around the world which range from special screenings of Batman films to comic shop giveaways.

The actual upcoming “Batman 2” is currently being filmed in London and is scheduled to release in February 2028.

“I’m in London here till the end of the year doing a ‘Batman’ sequel,” Pattinson told GQ in an a recent interview. “It’s good. I’m definitely feeling my age when fighting a lot. I’m literally like, ‘Goddamn, this is significantly harder than it used to be.’ But it’s really fun. And I think the movie’s going to be pretty great. It’s got a really, really fun cast, but it’s a marathon.”
