For a limited time, Disney+ is offering a deal slashing the price of a monthly subscription to 1/3 of the usual price.

If you have been flirting with the idea of signing up to Disney+, its new limited offer might be enough to coax your credit card out of your wallet.

From today (29 May, 2025) through to 11 June, new and eligible returning customers can sign up for the Disney+ Standard plan at $4.99 per month. The cheap price will be locked in for the next four months before reverting to the standard monthly $15.99 price.

The timing is great for the season 4 return of The Bear, or finally listening to that one friend who insists that you press play on Andor (it is very good).

New movies on Disney+ include Mufasa, A Real Pain, and Moana 2. Recent Marvel film, Captain America: Brave New World debuted on the streaming service yesterday.

A show that hasn’t received nearly enough attention, but is going to be of interest to Mediaweek readers, is the British Disney+ soap Rivals. Based on the 1988 Jilly Cooper book of the same name, the show is set in the world of glitzy, affluent 80s British media.

It is about two rival studios fighting over the rights to a TV franchise. Being of the 1980s, the show is raunchy, catty, and gloriously reminiscent of the best of the eras soaps. Leading the cast are David Tennant, Aidan Turner, and Katherine Parkinson.

In February, Disney+ saw a price rise taking the cost of a monthly Disney+ Standard subscription from $13.99 a month to the current $15.99 a month. The Standard plan offers subscribers video up to 1080p Full HD and two concurrent streams. The service also offers a more expensive Premium plan with 4k video and four concurrent streams.
