1. Lilo & Stitch

Lilo & Stitch has entered its third week at the top of the Australian box office. Over the public holiday weekend, the Disney film made $4,183,1559, a -35% jump down from $6, 392, 836 earned last weekend. On a global scale, the live action remake is on track to hit $800M worldwide and currently sits at $772.6M according to Deadline.

Synopsis: Lilo, a lonely young girl living on Kauaʻi, Hawaii, adopts a creature she believes is a dog. The creature, called Stitch, is a genetic experiment who escapes from another planet and arrives on Earth. Lilo, through care and commitment to the idea of family (Ohana), helps Stitch change his behaviour and he begins to learn what it means to care for others

2. Karate Kid: Legends

Making its debut to the Australian box office is Karate Kid: Legends, the latest instalment of the franchise and continuation of 2010 The Karate Kid (2010) and Netflix series Cobra Kai.

Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio reprise their roles with new comer Ben Wang as Li Fong. Over the long weekend, the film made $2,973,484.

Synopsis: Kung Fu prodigy Li Fong moves with his mother to New York and struggles to adjusts to his new school. He meets a student who asks for help. To support him, Li enters a karate competition. With guidance from Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso, Li combines martial arts methods for the final match.

Tom Cruise’s final film Mission: Impossible film dropped down to third over the weekend, making $2,033,881, down -41% from last weekend’s $3,453,992. The action/thriller scored 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Synopsis: Ethan Hunt and the IMF team work to track a system called the Entity. The Entity has the power to control information and systems, and various nefarious groups seek to use it. Hunt and his team follow clues,

From the World of John Wick comes Ballerina, which centres on Eve Macarro, played by Ana de Armas. The film debuted at the Australian box office in fourth spot and made $1,837,399, meanwhile the Tomatometer rated it 75%.

Synopsis: Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), trained by assassin organisation Ruska Roma, tracks down those linked to her father’s death to seek revenge.
