Big Brother is heading home. Network 10 has confirmed it is reviving the original format of the reality franchise, with the new season set to be filmed at its historic Dreamworld location on the Gold Coast.
In a return to its early 2000s roots, the upcoming season will feature live nominations, live evictions, and live streaming, hallmarks of the show’s first iteration in Australia. Episodes will air six nights a week across all screens and platforms.
Daniel Monaghan, SVP Content and Programming at Paramount Australia, said the decision was driven by strong audience interest: “The demand for a reboot of the original format has been deafening, and we have listened. With a brand-new house built on familiar ground, this season will be centred on real people with real stories, talking in real time.”
The show will be hosted by Mel Tracina, known for her work as cultural correspondent on The Cheap Seats and a national radio presenter on Nova. Tracina said: “The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right. We’re excited to be home (and in a new house that hopefully comes with an air fryer).”
Dreamworld CEO Greg Yong welcomed the partnership: “We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Big Brother back home to Dreamworld. This iconic show holds a special place in our story and in the hearts of millions of Australians.”
The revival is being produced by Endemol Shine Australia and is supported by the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy. According to Jacqui Feeney, Screen Queensland CEO, the production will employ 95 crew and provide four paid attachment roles, offering hands-on experience in outside broadcasting, a skill set that will be in demand ahead of Brisbane 2032.
Amelia Fisk, Director of Content at Endemol Shine Australia, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing the OG Big Brother back to 10 and to its home at Dreamworld in Queensland. Get ready for a summer of incredible human drama and unforgettable moments.”
