Total TV Ratings, August 31

The Block was the top program in the total TV ratings with an audience of 1.409m, an increase of 32% on its overnight ratings. The episode saw the count down to the master bedroom and walk-in wardrobe reveal, the other teams discussed how Ankur and Sharon used Google to get ahead in the wine challenge.

On Seven, the finale of My Kitchen Rules had an average of 970,000 (up 22%), while the winner reveal had 1.120m tune in as Sydney couple Janelle and Monzir took out the crown. 

The Amazing Race Australia had 719,000 viewers, up 51%, as the show threw a major plot twist at the contestants, introducing the 18 remaining teams to one another.

Nine was #1 in both primary channel share (24.1%) and network share (32.5%) last night as The Block was the top non-news program for Nine with 796,000 viewers. The episode saw Ankur and Sharon walk off the set after a series of confrontations including with hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft. After the Verdict then followed with 300,000 tuning in for the Aussie dramedy. Earlier in the metro markets, the peak audience watching Nick Kyrgios going down in the US Open, broken racquet and all, was around 245,000.

On Seven, Home and Away was the top primetime entertainment program for the broadcaster with 488,000 tuning in for the soap. Armed and Dangerous then had 249,000 viewers at 7:30pm.

On 10, The Project had 200,000 (6:30pm) and 298,000 (7:00pm) tune in as the show covered the childcare strike. Afterwards, a repeat of Dog House Australia had 289,000 viewers tune in.

On the ABC, Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell had 460,000 tune in as Micallef continued his final season on the program. The new Aussie drama Summer Love aired its second episode with 246,000 viewers. 

The top program on SBS was a repeat of Tony Robinson’s History of Britain with 165,000 viewers.
