Seven’s Friday Night AFL Finals, which saw The Brisbane Lions defeat Melbourne was the top program on total TV, rising 1% to reach a total audience of 1,083,000.

The Rugby League Finals on Nine which saw the Panthers win against the Eels enjoyed an 11% increase to reach a total audience of 861,000. 

The Rugby League Finals post-match had the biggest lift on overnight with 13% to reach an audience of 258,000.

The AFL finals continue to drive Seven‘s weekend success as the network enjoyed a strong Friday win. Seven had a network share of 41.9%, a primary channel share of 30.5% share and 7mate won the multichannels with 6.4%.

The top-rated program of the night was Seven’s AFL: Friday Night Football Finals with a viewership of 818,000, followed by 7news with 753,000 views.

440,000 Melbourne fans watched on as The Geelong Cats defeated the Brisbane Lions to claim victory 18.12 (120) to 7.7 (49) in the preliminary finals. The win puts Geelong into the season decider for the 19th time next weekend where they’ll take on the winner of tonight’s preliminary final between Sydney and Collingwood. The pre-match coverage clocked 583,000 views, followed by the post-match coverage with 364,000.

Nine enjoyed 695,000 views on its primetime news coverage, followed by the NRL Footy Finals, which brought in 413,000 views. 250,000 Sydney-siders tuned in to watch the Eels dominate the Raiders to win 40-4 and book a spot in their first preliminary final in 13 years. The pre-match coverage clocked 285,000 views. 

Gardening Australia on ABC was the network’s top program, clocking 320,000 views as the team met a photographer of farming and forests.

On 10, 10 News First reached 225,000 people, followed by The Project with 218,000 views.

A repeat of Hampton Court: Behind Closed Doors was the most-watched program on SBS with 125,000 views.

Fox Footy’s coverage of the Qualifying Finals between Geelong and Brisbane won the night, bringing in 3844,000 viewers. On Fox League, the Semi-Finals between the Eels and Raiders brought in an audience of 299,000. Fox Footy’s Friday Footy on Fox reached 198,000 viewers, followed by Friday Night Footy on Fox League with 120,000.
