Home and Away was the top non-news program in the total TV ratings after registering 1.067m viewers for its first two episodes, an increase of 21% on its overnight viewers. The third episode of the night had 927,000, up 26%.

Celebrity Gogglebox was a close #2 in the entertainment rankings with 1.007m viewers, the special was up 26% on its overnight viewership.

Nine has continued its winning streak this week after finishing last night with both the top primary channel share (21.8%) and network share (29.5%). A key part of the win was the return of the NRL to Nine’s lineup which had 426,000 viewers watching the season opener between the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and the Penrith Panthers. The defending premiers won comfortably 28-6 as 259,000 of the audience tuned in from Sydney, with 139,000 watching from Brisbane. This made the match the top non-news program in Sydney.

On Seven, Home and Away aired its usual Thursday night triple episode with an average of 453,000 tuning in for the first two episodes, with 393,000 watching the final ep. 

On 10, First Dates Australia‘s third episode on its new broadcaster had 402,000 viewers, this was up on last week’s 374,000 viewers. Gogglebox (574,000) then aired its first regular episode of the year, following the debut of the celebrity format last week. Gogglebox was the #1 entertainment program of the night and also #1 in all key demos.

On the ABC, 277,000 watched Foreign Correspondent as the show explored the conflict in Syria. Q+A then had 175,000 viewers as the show was live from Sydney with Stan Grant.

The top non-news program on SBS was Scenic Coastal Walks with Kate Humble with 153,000 viewers.
