On Friday the 11th, KIIS 1065’s Kyle and Jackie O set one lucky winner up for life, giving away the station’s biggest ever competition prize: a brand new four-bedroom home, new car, and $30,000 worth of furniture.

The Kyle & Jackie O Show spent the morning broadcasting live from Julia Reserve in Oran Park Town where listeners gathered, armed with prize keys that they have been competing to win on-air since January.

Hundreds of people lined up on the morning to try their keys on a bright pink prop door – the key that opened the door was the winner.

By 8:30am, Kyle and Jackie O made the announcement that 400 keys had been tried which meant that the halfway point had been reached without a winner. By 9:30am there were only 70 keys left to try.

As more and more people tried their keys to no result, Sandilands said that “I feel like a reverse Santa Clause – everyone is walking away from me disappointed!”

He didn’t have to wait much longer though, as Jessica approached the door and spoke about how they had bought a house that was badly damaged in the Sydney storms last year. Since then, she and her family had been living at her in-laws’ house.

Getting to the front of the line with five keys, it was the third key that did the job.

“Honestly, life has been really crazy with our house the whole last year, I’ve been trying so hard to get back into the house and fighting the insurance company. I knew if we didn’t get this I’d have to go back to doing that. It’s so hard,” Jessica said through tears.

It may have been a case of divine intervention, with Jessica’s partner Brandon saying that “for weeks and months I’ve been saying that I feel like your dad from up above is going to take care of us.”

KIIS 1065 partnered with Wisdom Homes and Oran Park Town to give away a brand new home in Sydney’s South West, complimented by a BYD Atto 3 electric car ready in the driveway and $30,000 worth of furniture from April & Oak.

Oran Park Town will eventually be home to 25,000 residents.
