TV Ratings June 22, 2022: MasterChef turns on the waterworks and the ratings

Total TV Ratings, June 15

Taking the title in total TV is ABC’s Gruen, which lifted 20% to ask 1,049,000 whether or not it is ok to lie to kids (in one of the more confronting Pitch segments the show has aired). Just missing out on the million mark was Seven’s Home and Away, which lifted 22% for a total audience of 963,000. Big Brother also continued to make big strides in total TV for Seven, rising 44% for a total audience of 761,000.

On 10, MasterChef rose 19%, with 895,000 tuning in as Julie Goodwin scored the win for her fruit salad curry. On Nine, Celebrity Apprentice brought 718,000 to the boardroom, lifting 25%.

Seven has won the evening with a primary share of 18.8% and a network share of 26.7%. 7TWO was top multichannel, with a 4.1% share.

Home and Away drew an audience of 443,000 to kick off the night. On Big Brother, 319,000 tuned in as the housemates celebrated their first ever Panic Room win, before Aleisha plotted a blind side to set a trap that sent Drew home. In Melbourne, The Front Bar gifted Crows player Rory Sloane a toilet seat signed by champions in front of 277,000 viewers. 169,000 of those viewers were in Melbourne, making it the top non-news show in the market.

On Nine, A Current Affair had 577,000 tune in as the show spoke to the family of a young mother of two who died after waiting hours for emergency surgery, and interviewed Curtis Stone about his involvement in a project to provide food for those who need it. A repeat of Travel Guides then packed their bags and took 438,000 to Mexico.

On 10, The Project (268,000 6:30pm / 387,000 7pm) spoke to Australian basketball legend Lauren Jackson who has come out of retirement and made the Opals squad at 41 years old, and discussed Victoria making “grossly offensive” conduct a crime. MasterChef turned on the waterworks for 556,000 as the contestants were reunited with their loved ones, before Team Aqua took out the service challenge to head into tonight’s immunity challenge. Five Bedrooms rounded out the night with 267,000.

7.30 covered the Albanese Government’s decision to abolish the cashless debit card and the winding back of intervention in the east coast energy market for 484,000 on the ABC. The Wednesday night comedy line up kicked off with Gruen, who delved into the art of selling men’s underwear before asking 501,000 whether billionaires are a force for good or evil. 436,000 Stuck around for The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, before You Can’t Ask That interviewed people who have had a prescription drug addiction for 236,000 viewers. Earlier in the day, new episodes of Bluey continue to punch above their weight, bringing in 398,000.

On SBS, the highest rating non-news show was Why Buildings Collapse, which drew a crowd of 152,000.
