OzTAM’s latest Streamscape data shows BVOD and digital video continued to gain ground in Q1 2026, underlining the pressure on live broadcast TV as Australian video viewing fragments across platforms.
The Q1 2026 Streamscape report was released alongside a new interactive dashboard, giving subscribers a self-serve view of Australia’s Total Video landscape across broadcast television, BVOD and streaming platforms.
BVOD and streaming lift in Q1
Broadcaster content, which includes broadcast TV and BVOD, remained the largest share of viewing at 62.6 per cent.
However, the growth came from digital viewing. BVOD increased to 10.8 per cent in Q1 2026, up from 9.8 per cent in Q4 2025.
Viewing to other streamers, described by OzTAM as Digital Video, rose to 37.9 per cent. That was up 0.5 percentage points from Q4 2025.
The figures point to good news for BVOD and streaming on connected devices in the home, while live broadcast TV faces a more challenging trend.
Viewing to TV sets continued to dominate overall consumption, accounting for 86 per cent of viewing.
OzTAM launches interactive Streamscape dashboard
The new Streamscape dashboard is available to subscribers from today. It is designed to let media agencies and other users analyse Total Video trends across demographics and platforms in one interface.
OzTAM said the dashboard moves Streamscape beyond static reporting into a personalised, self-serve environment. It provides consistent and comparable metrics to support media planning across Total Video.
Karen Halligan, Chief Executive Officer at OzTAM, said the need for an independent view of viewing behaviour had become more important as audiences spread across platforms.
“As viewing continues to fragment, the need for a trusted, independent view has never been more critical,” Halligan said.
“Streamscape continues to evolve as a high-value intelligence asset, strengthening the industry’s ability to navigate complexity with confidence, and is underpinned by OzTAM’s robust measurement foundations.
“Streamscape was created to bring clarity to a rapidly evolving video landscape. This next phase is about putting the data directly into the hands of our subscribers.
“The interactive dashboard enhances how the industry engages with Total Video data and gives users the flexibility to explore, question and apply insights in ways that reflect their own priorities.”
What Streamscape measures
OzTAM launched Streamscape in June 2025 to provide an independent view of Total Video consumption in Australia.
The product combines viewing data across broadcast TV, BVOD and streaming services, including SVOD, AVOD and social video.
Its methodology is underpinned by OzTAM’s national panel of homes equipped with streaming TV meters. It captures in-home streaming activity across connected TVs, smartphones, tablets and computers.
It also integrates broadcast viewing data from TAM panels and BVOD data from OzTAM’s video player measurement service.
OzTAM will run a training program to support subscriber adoption of the dashboard. Streamscape resources, including a fact sheet and FAQs, are available on the OzTAM website.
