• Supercars is blasting into prime time for the first time ever on the Seven Network

Buckle up this weekend as the world’s greatest touring car championship, Supercars, is blasting into prime time for the first time ever on the Seven Network, with the Bunnings Trade Sydney SuperNight at Sydney Motorsport Park.

On a weekend when Jamie Whincup and Cam Waters will be gunning to cut Shane van Gisbergen’s Repco Supercars Championship lead, the title race steps into the bright lights of prime time with a hell-for-leather 125km sprint race that roars into action at 7.00pm AEDT on Saturday on Channel Seven, 7mate and 7plus.

It will be a huge weekend of motorsport on Seven, with the live and free action from Sydney Motorsport Park kicking off at 3.30pm AEDT on Saturday on 7mate and 7plus, and including Supercars Qualifying, Top 10 Shootout and support categories.

On Sunday, two more full-throttle 125km Supercars sprint races air from 12.30pm AEDT on Channel Seven and 7plus.

Leading sports broadcaster Mark Beretta (pictured) and rising star Jack Perkins will lead Seven’s broadcast from Sydney Motorsport Park, while fans will again be able to watch all three Supercars races uninterrupted during commercial breaks via cutting-edge picture-in-picture (PiP) technology.

Motorsport icons Neil Crompton, Mark Skaife, Craig Lowndes and Garth Tander will also be part of the telecast, while Mark Larkham will appear from the DJR Workshop in Queensland.

Seven Melbourne managing director and head of network sport, Lewis Martin, said: “It’s great to have Supercars back on Seven this weekend and things really start to heat up from here as we count down to the season finale, the Repco Bathurst 1000 on Sunday, December 5.

“This weekend, for the first time ever on Your Home of Motorsport, viewers will be able to watch Supercars under lights in prime time and there’s no more fitting stage for motorsport’s #1 touring car championship,” he said.

In addition to this weekend’s live and free racing, Seven will bring fans motorsport programs, starting on Saturday with episode one of the six-part Supercars documentary, Inside Line: A season with Walkinshaw Andretti United, at 2.00pm AEDT on 7mate and 7plus.

Viewers will also enjoy a trip down memory lane when 7’s Motorsport Classics returns to relive some of the greatest moments in Australian motorsport, with thanks to Shannons. Join host Jack Perkins for episode five, Sandown Classics, at 3.00pm AEDT Saturday on 7mate and 7plus.

On both race days this weekend, Seven will show a one-hour highlights package, with viewers in all capital cities able to catch the very best action on 7plus just a few hours after the day’s racing finishes, and then on demand.

Saturday’s highlights will also be shown on Channel 7 at 12.30am Sunday in all capital cities, while Sunday’s highlights will screen on Channel 7 at 12.30am Monday in all capitals.
