18 global and local apps will join Hubbl with device promising ‘unrivalled world of entertainment’

The new streaming device Hubbl is being officially launched by the Foxtel Group on Wednesday this week.

Ahead of that event, Hubbl has revealed the long list of partners that have approved their streaming apps to join the platform.

There was some anticipation that not all streaming platforms would be joining Hubbl. That was wrong.

The Hubbl team has done an impressive job of convincing Australian and global partners that there is plenty of upside for them to come to the streaming party.

That carrot that Hubbl has successfully dangled in front of those streaming services is the potential to secure new customers.

Who’s on Hubbl?

The global paid streaming services that said “yes” to Hubbl are Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, video sharing platform YouTube, Apple TV+ and Paramount+.

Local paid streaming apps available on Hubbl are Kayo Sports, Stan, Binge, Optus Sport and Flash.

Platforms coming shortly after launch will be Stan, Optus Sport and Paramount+.

Australian free streaming apps are ABC iview and ABC Kids, SBS On Demand, 7plus, 9Now and 10 Play.

Foxtel Group quietly launches new streaming service

As part of the launch of Hubbl, LifeStyle, a new streaming app that brings together the Foxtel Group lifestyle content, will also launch on the platform.

What is LifeStyle?

LifeStyle is a new streaming app, available via the web and on Hubbl. It lets users stream lifestyle shows from Australia and around the world. Much of the content that also screens on Foxtel Group’s Lifestyle, Lifestyle Home and Lifestyle Food will be available.

At launch, Lifestyle will offer more than 9,000 hours of local and international cooking, property, renovation and travel content.

LifeStyle is the new home of popular shows Selling Houses Australia, Love It or List It Australia, The Great Australian Bake Off, Grand Designs Australia, Property Brothers, Gogglebox, MasterChef, A Place in the Sun, Escape to the Chateau and more.

Celebrity cooks in the Lifestyle kitchen include Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay, Mary Berry, Nigella Lawson and Rachel Khoo.

How much does a subscription to LifeStyle cost?

LifeStyle is available via subscription of $8/month for one stream (up to HD quality).

What is Hubbl promising?

Hubbl is telling potential customers it will make streaming, searching between apps, watching and subscription management easy.

“Hubbl is designed to fuse the best local and global content, including premium entertainment and sports, video on demand and live channels into a single experience.”

What will Hubbl look like?

That will be revealed later this week. It is also anticipated details of the price and start date will be released too. Although the launch event is on Wednesday, the start date is expected to be a short time later.

There will be two ways to enjoy the benefits of Hubbl:

Small puck-like device that will plug into a compatible TV.

Hubbl Glass will be a TV that is based on the Hubbl operating system. Cost and screen size should be released later this week. Check out Sky Glass for an idea of what it might be like. “The smarter TV” and “The only TV with Hubbl inside” could be tag lines.

Hubbl Glass will come with a built-in sound bar that only requires an internet connection and a power cord, no other wires.

Hubbl CEO Patrick Delany

Speaking ahead of the mid-week launch event, Patrick Delany, CEO of Hubbl and the Foxtel Group, said: “Hubbl will effortlessly fuse free and paid entertainment and sport from Australia’s favourite apps, channels, live TV and the internet into one seamless user experience.

“Hubbl is only as good as the breadth and depth of apps integrated onto the platform to ensure a truly converged streaming experience and in removing frustration when it comes to the choice of what to watch. It’s a huge testament to the transformative Hubbl technology that these world-class and much-loved local partners have chosen to reshape the streaming experience with us.
