• The event welcomed forty emerging leaders across the Australian and New Zealand digital industries

Yahoo Academy opened nominations for its talent program this year and welcomed forty emerging leaders from across the Australian and New Zealand digital industries.

The program returned under a refreshed new name but with the same outcome of providing the next generation of industry leaders with exclusive opportunities to build their brand and accelerate their careers.

The selected ‘Class of 2022’ attended a two-day event in Sydney from June 14 to 15. It featured inspiring speakers, personal brand building workshops, mentoring, and networking opportunities and culminated in a pitch-off competition.

The schedule boasted an impressive lineup of local and international speakers, young entrepreneur Jack BloomfieldThe Future of Work author Rishad Tobaccowala, global brand strategist Nicole Hatherley, and industry pitch legend Greg Graham, the curator and tutor of the upcoming Mediaweek Academy.

In addition to the inspirational speaker sessions, the Class of 2022 underwent unique brand building workshops, mentoring, industry networking and a live pitch-off event.

Winners of the pitch-off were awarded a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Advertising Week New York this September.

The Yahoo Academy online masterclass series, a virtual extension of the program launched to the broader industry in 2020, will continue later this year.

Rachel Page, general manager of Sales at Yahoo ANZ, said of the event: “Over nearly a decade, we’ve fine tuned our program into a winning formula that squeezes the very best out of our industry’s rising talent.

“Past alumni have gone onto secure top jobs right across the board from MullenLowe to The Brand Agency NZ and Wavemaker. Yahoo Academy has really become a gateway to success for future leaders.

“It’s no secret our industry is currently experiencing a talent crisis. So it’s never been more important for leaders to support and nurture young professionals.

Page added: “Thank you to the leaders who nominated, to all who applied, and congratulations to those that made it into the program. We can’t wait to meet you in person and begin supercharging your brand building journey!”
