In survey two, the show increased to a national reach of 1.635 million listeners

After the second radio ratings survey for the year was released last week, Mediaweek spoke to ARN’s chief content officer Duncan Campbell. In a raft of highlights for the broadcaster, one of the key things Campbell spoke about was the fact that Drive hosts Will & Woody scored their first national number one – while Woody Whitelaw was in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.

In survey two, the show increased to a national reach of 1.635 million listeners. It was the first time the network has achieved a #1 National Drive position since Survey Three, 2015, and a first for Will & Woody.

“Their agent has contacted 10 and we’re trying to get those results to him. He has absolutely no idea, so it’d be nice to be told that on the show, it’d be quite cool!” Campbell said at the time.

The news got to Woody after all, via a special news segment broadcast for the campmates on Wednesday night’s episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

The segment was hosted by Sandra Sully, and began with an update on Woody’s daughter Remi – who has learned to blow bubbles – before his Will & Woody co-host Will McMahon made an appearance to break the news.

The reaction from Woody was instantaneous, saying he couldn’t believe it, and repeating “I’m so happy” whilst his fellow campmates hugged him and cheered.

After the big reveal, Will McMahon said, “How bittersweet that I am celebrating our show’s first time as the #1 National Drive Show, while Woods is busy being a celebrity in the South African jungle. At the end of the day, I get to spend every afternoon driving the country home alongside my best friend and I couldn’t ask for anything more. This is really just the icing on the cake.”
