Total TV Ratings: May 26

Home and Away continues to be a powerhouse for Channel Seven, topping the total TV after the first two episode of the triple header rose 23% for a total audience of 989,000, and the late episode lifting 27% for a total of 895,000. The Front Bar also had a big night, rising 15% for a total audience of 487,000.

On 10, MasterChef rose 25%, bringing 870,000 along to the air-fryer themed immunity challenge. The ABC’s Q+A lifted 11%, bringing in 532,000.

Seven has taken the top spot of the night, with a 20.7% primary share and a 31.0% network share. The multichannel winner was 7TWO, with a 6.3% share.

Seven’s triple header of Home and Away had an average of 432,000 tune in for the first two episodes while 396,000 stuck around for the late session. Marking the beginning of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, the Trooping The Colour ceremony was watched by 307,000. In Melbourne, Andy Maher, Mick Molloy, and Fitzy took their places behind The Front Bar, bringing in 294,000 – the top non-news show in the market. 

566,000 tuned in to A Current Affair on Nine as the show covered the fallout of the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard court ruling and aired an exclusive interview with Sarah Monahan after her abuser – Hey Dad! star and convicted paedophile Robert Hughes – was granted parole. On Thursday night footy, 247,000 watched as the Gold Coast Titans started strong, but ultimately were no match for the North Queensland Cowboys, going down 32-6. Outside of the NRL loving markets, RBT brought in 155,000 viewers.

The Project (270,000 6:30pm / 375,00 7pm) kicked off the night for 10, also covering the results of the Depp V Heard trial as well as interviewing Gang Of Youths frontman Dave Le’aupepe. The MasterChef cooks were back in the kitchen after their previous excursion, with 463,000 viewers joined by both Marco Pierre White and winner of Celebrity MasterChef, AFL champion Nick Riewoldt.

On the ABC, 7.30 interviewed Australia’s new foreign minister Penny Wong about what she’s been up to since being sworn in and Antony Beevor, a military historian who has been following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for an audience of 536,000. Foreign Correspondent took 471,000 through the story of Putin’s rise to power, before Stan Grant hosted Q+A on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Mabo decision for 261,000 viewers.

On SBS, the highest rating non-news show was Scenic Coastal Walks With Kate Humble with 131,000 tuning in.
