• Game Three was going to be played in Newcastle but has been moved to the Gold Coast

Game Three of State of Origin is set to be broadcast live on Nine and 9Now from 7.00pm AEST Wednesday July 14th.

Game Three was going to be played in Newcastle but has since been moved to Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast due to Covid-19 restrictions.

“We are disappointed not to be able to give Newcastle the city’s first State of Origin, but we must operate within all State Public Health Orders and not having a crowd in Newcastle negates the opportunity for our fans from the region,’’ NRL CEO Andrew Abdo said.

“The Gold Coast has a very low infection rate and both Origin camps are currently located within driving distance of Cbus Stadium. It means neither team will be disadvantaged by travel.

“This is an exciting outcome for the Gold Coast. It will be the first time in history that the Gold Coast has hosted State of Origin.”

The NSW Blues have already won the series and are looking to whitewash the series for the first time since 2000 – an achievement which would sting particularly badly for the Queensland side seeing as all three games are happening on Maroons turf.

Game One ended in a bloodbath, with the Blues defeating the Maroons 50 points to 6. Game Two went to the Blues 26 nil, with NSW holdingQueensland to zero points for the first time ever in Brisbane.

Channel Nine’s broadcast will include the man who has played more Origin matches than anyone in history, Cameron Smith. Arguably the greatest player of all time, Smith made his official debut with the NRL on Nine commentary team for Game One.

Game Three hosts and commentators include: James Bracey, Ray Warren, Cameron Smith, Phil Gould, Paul Vautin, Peter Sterling, Allana Ferguson, Billy Slater, Andrew Johns, Wally Lewis, Darren Lockyer, Paul Gallen, Sam Thaiday, Danika Mason

To kick off all the action on the field, Lime Cordiale and JK47 will get the crowd pumping with the pre-game entertainment.
