The Australia Matildas will face Canada in the second game of the two-match series tonight from 7:40pm AEST on 10 Bold, 10Play, and Paramount+.

Australia and Canada will go head-to-head at Allianz Stadium, following the first of two friendlies last Saturday at Suncorp Stadium.

In Saturday’s game, The Matildas were beaten 1-0 by Canada as Adriana Leon’s early long-range screamer was the only goal of the match. Canada goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan made save-after-dave to deny the Matildas, particularly Sam Kerr.

This two-match series marks the first time Australia has played Canada on home soil in 14 years when the CommBank Matildas defeated the Canadian Women’s National Team, 2-1, at the old Sydney Football Stadium on 23 May 2008, the site of the brand-new Allianz Stadium.

Head Coach Tony Gustavsson gave an update on player availability in a pre-match conference.

“At training today we tested some of the players in football, but also afterwards in some high-speed running, and we will hear tonight how they responded to that,” Gustavsson explained.

Steph Catley is a question mark, we will decide that tonight. Caitlin Ford went through the training well, but we need to see how she responds tonight to that training. Tameka Yallop and Cortnee Vine both trained fully so hopefully, there are some more players available for the game tomorrow, but I won’t know for certain until tonight.”

Earlier this year, The Walt Disney Company and Football Australia announced a new Australian-commissioned Disney+ Original which will tell the story of the Australian women’s national football team, the Commonwealth Bank Matildas.

The six-part docu-series – yet to have its title revealed – will go behind-the-scenes of the Matildas, and track the rise of women’s sport through immersive storytelling.

Australia v Canada will be televised on 10 Bold, streamed for free via 10Play, and on Paramount+, which requires a subscription. The action kicks off tonight at 7:40 pm AEST.
