Telstra has launched a new campaign highlighting its satellite messaging capability, showcasing how Australians can stay connected even outside mobile network coverage.
Created by Bear Meets Eagle On Fire with +61, the campaign centres on a series of stop-motion films set in remote locations.
Connectivity beyond coverage
The work demonstrates Telstra’s satellite messaging technology, which allows users to send texts when off-grid by connecting directly to satellites, a feature exclusive to Telstra customers.
Across the films, characters in farmland, desert and mountain settings are shown sending messages via space, with rotating sets used to visually transition scenes from earth to orbit.
Craft-led storytelling
Directed by Catherine Prowse from Passion Pictures, the stop-motion executions lean into detailed craftsmanship to bring the concept to life.
Telstra Head of Brand and Marketing Communications Alita McMenamin said the campaign focuses on simple, clear product storytelling.
“The care and craft the team put into making the sets and characters was extraordinary. Satellite Messaging offers customers a simple way to send a message when travelling, working or exploring off-grid – and this work shows that in a way that’s clear and engaging,” she said.
Integrated rollout
The campaign is supported by an integrated media buy spanning TV, cinema, digital, social and retail channels.

Micah Walker
Chief Creative Officer Micah Walker said the execution mirrors the product’s underlying engineering.
“We love that the rigour and care that stop motion requires to make something look effortless is also true of how Satellite messaging works and Catherine has done a lovely job of making that huge effort charming and memorable,” he said.
