News Corp Australia has published the May edition of WISH, with Sarah Murdoch featured on the cover to mark 40 years of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI).
The issue, titled The Impact Issue, highlights the institute’s role in advancing child health research since its founding in 1986.
MCRI was co-founded by Dame Elisabeth Murdoch and paediatrician David Danks, and now conducts research across more than 150 conditions affecting children, including allergies, cancers, rare genetic diseases and autism.
Murdoch, who serves as MCRI co-chair, said the work has an immediate impact.
“You can sometimes feel like medical research is something that’s not tangible or is years away. But this is happening now,” she said.
“I definitely feel the urgency when I walk the corridors at MCRI. Everyone working there cares about making an impact.”

Editorial and national coverage rollout
Editorial Director and Publisher, News Prestige, Edwina McCann, said the issue reflects MCRI’s standing in global research.
“Since 1986, MCRI has championed healthier lives for every child, becoming a global leader recognised among the world’s top three child health research institutes – a homegrown success delivering real-world change.
“Twenty-five years on from her first visit, Sarah Murdoch continues to extend that impact, connecting cutting-edge discoveries with the everyday reality of families and championing the institute’s work across stem cell and genomic medicine, public health and infectious diseases.”
News Corp Australia will extend coverage through its State and Community mastheads, including The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier-Mail and The Advertiser, with a national editorial series focused on children’s health issues.
The series will begin on Monday, 4 May, and feature case studies, expert commentary, and analysis of key challenges, including obesity, sleep, and preventive health.
Sky News Australia will also broadcast a special report marking the milestone, presented by National Affairs Correspondent Jonathan Lea.
The program will air on Wednesday, 6 May at 12:45pm AEST, with an encore at 3:45pm, and includes an interview with Murdoch alongside Professor Kathryn North.
