Advertising Week APAC saw flocks of media, agency and adverting industry folk make the trip to Sydney’s Luna Park earlier this month. Mediaweek was on the ground, covering the event alongside Samsung Ads, and speaking to some of the event’s major players.

Mediaweek spoke with Gary Jubelin – who was presenting alongside fellow podcaster Matthew Johns – about what brought him to Advertising Week 2023.

“I was invited to come along and talk about the transition from policing – which I did for a very long time – into the podcast world.

“I’ve got to say, as an ex homicide detective, the phones aren’t ringing at 2am in the morning most nights to be called out, so I’m not missing that. I miss certain aspects of policing, the thrill of the chase, but I’m really enjoying what I’m doing in the media and the podcast world.”

When asked what the hot topic at Advertising Week 2023 was in his opinion, Jubelin says the two big ones are credibility and integrity.

I would think if I was in advertising, I’d be looking to be aligned to something with some integrity. It’s a word that gets used probably not enough, because it’s important that what you’re doing is for a reason and it’s got to be for the right reasons.”
