Nine denies report of Today show EP change

Nine’s head of news and current affairs Darren Wick has shot down rumours that he is looking for a new Today show EP to replace Mark Calvert.

Wick told Mediaweek that Today is having one of its best years in some time and is on track to win the year in Sydney and there are no plans to replace existing EP Mark Calvert.

In a note Wick sent to Nine staff this morning he commented:

[blockquote style=”1″]This is false.

Isn’t happening. Won’t happen.

I’m not replacing Mark. In fact, I expect him to continue in this role for a long time.

Under Mark’s direction this year, TODAY is giving SUNRISE a red-hot run for its money. And they know it at SEVEN.

Let our detractors keep throwing rocks. It means that you’re getting under their skin. And get used to Calvert’s ugly mug being around for some time yet. We’re all in this for the long haul.[/blockquote]
