Mediaweek Podcasts: Highlights from the best of 2021

Mediaweek Podcasts

From Aftertaste, RFDS and Opal Hunters to Jackie O and Patrick Delany

It wasn’t the most prolific year ever on Mediaweek Podcasts from the Mediaweek Studios, but just listen to the quality.

We produced 32 separate Mediaweek Podcasts with episodes from early February until late December and covered lots of ground – as you will notice below from our wrap-up of the year’s best.

Radio’s finest talents

• Mix 102.3’s Erin and Soda: Recorded in August the interviews came in between the Adelaide duo’s decision to temporarily walk away from their breakfast show and Mark Soderstrom’s more recent decision to quit the station after eight years. Are there clues in the interview as to why he’s had enough?

• Melshel Laurie is much more than a fine radio broadcaster. As this podcast explains, she is also an accomplished podcaster and author. One of our most enjoyable interviews in a year where the bar was set pretty high when it came to quality guests.

• Jase and PJ: Another episode with radio stars where the partnership has since ended! At least we knew about the impending departure when we recorded this one at KIIS 101.1.

Jonesy and Amanda

Team Jonesy and Amanda earlier in 2021 at the Mediaweek Studios recording session

• Jonesy and Amanda: A deep dive into the long and successful Sydney radio partnership on ARN’s WSFM. Just how have they survived 16 years in the cut-throat world of commercial radio and lived the tell their tale?

• Jackie O: Originally a bigger TV star as a reality TV judge than a radio icon, Jackie spends our interview discussing challenges she faced trying to manage both her KIIS radio and 10 TV career during Covid. Hopefully a challenge no one will face for long during 2022!
