Mediaweek Industry Awards: Best Breakfast Radio Show Brisbane

• The breakfast show ended the year up 0.5 to 11.0% where it was the equal #2 breakfast show

Winner: Triple M Big Breakfast

Like voters in Melbourne, our Brisbane audience also enjoys listening to the breakfast show at Triple M. In this case The Big Breakfast with Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody. The line-up changed late in the year when Robin Bailey stepped down to care for husband Sean Pickwell and was replaced by Margaux Parker. The breakfast show ended the year up 0.5 to 11.0% where it was the equal #2 breakfast show in a very tight market where there are six breakfast shows locked in a band that goes from 9.1% to 11.2%. The Triple M breakfast show started 2019 strongly on 11.7%, but wasn’t able to replicate the result again after recording it in the first two surveys.

Hit Network breakfast show Matt, Abby & Stav ranked #2 in our Brisbane radio reader survey and are the other team sharing equal #2 on 11.0% in the breakfast radio ratings at the end of 2019. The Hit 105 breakfast show’s best results in 2019 were a high of 12.0% in survey 2 and a low of 9.5% several surveys later.

Triple J’s Ben & Liam, the departing public service broadcasters, slip into third place in Brisbane where their final survey of the year had them on a breakfast share of 9.5% which represented a massive increase of 2.4% from survey 7. Fans wanting to listen to them from now on will need to tune into their new Nova 919 Adelaide breakfast show which started this week.
