Seven has reported the second test scored an average broadcast audience of 720,000 viewers. It dominated its timeslots, ranking #1 in all people, 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s.

The biggest audience was achieved with the third session on Day Three, which had an average of 948,000 viewers nationally and a reach of 2.1 million.

Managing director Seven Melbourne and head of network sport, Lewis Martin, said about the cricket tv ratings: “Big crowds, big audiences, an emphatic Pakistan fight-back and Captain Pat on a roll, the Boxing Day Test did not disappoint – and there’s so much more to come this summer on Seven.

“With wall-to-wall cricket, headlined by the biggest names in the world, there is nowhere else to be this summer than right here on Seven, your home of cricket,” he said.

The Third Test against Pakistan starts on Wednesday January 3 at the SCG in Sydney. Apart from cricket TV ratings, there will be another focus. With the series already decided, the biggest interest in the clash is the final test appearance of David Warner.

The test opener will be retiring from test cricket and one day internationals. He will be focusing on playing T20 competitions and his new role as a commentator for Fox Sports.

From Wednesday, 14 January, Seven’s cricket team will head to Adelaide Oval for the first of two Tests between Australia and the West Indies.

Seven’s big year

The cricket is just part of the success Seven has been having in 2023.

The broadcaster has just released details of just how big the year was.

Seven has claimed overall victory in 2023, taking the title of the most watched network nationally and in the capital cities for both the calendar year and the ratings survey year.

With the #1 news, breakfast, sport and local drama shows – plus the #1 new entertainment show of 2023 and entertainment shows that grew their audiences across Seven and 7plus – the network took the crown nationally for the calendar year in all people and was less than 0.2 points from taking the top spot from Nine in 25 to 54s.
