• Welcome back Bianca, Mike & Bob, 97.3 closes in on Nova

Biggest movers

UP: 97.3FM +1.7
DOWN: 4BC -1.1

Nova 106.9 12.5%: The market might be starting to settle after some recent movement as Nova has some stronger competition, at least after breakfast. Nova has again produced an impressive set of numbers with an improved 12.7% in breakfast (up 0.9) to shares of 13.4% in afternoon and 15.9% in drive – the latter keeping Kate, Tim and Marty #1. The results for Nova and breakfast are the best since survey 1, 2019.

97.3 FM 12.2%: Things started to veer off the rails a little for the station close to 12 months ago when share first dipped below 11% and then later 10%. 97.3 has been under 11% for the first four surveys of the year but has climbed back to 12.2% (+1.7) this survey. Breakfast with Bianca, Mike and Bob had a nice jump too – up 1.4 to 11.1%, their best breakfast share in 12 months.

104.5 Triple M 10.8%: The station finished 2018 and then started 2019 very well with shares of 13.3% and then 12.4%. That 13.3% turned into 10.0% two surveys ago and the station is building again. Breakfast has been above the station average for the past few surveys and despite a small dip 0.2 to 11.2%, it keeps that record intact. The station’s best shares are in morning (#1 on 13.0%) and afternoon (#2 on 14.1%).

Hit 105 9.4%: There’s been something of a rollercoaster ride here over the past few years. Seven of eight surveys last year were over 11% and one so far this year. This survey Hit has recorded only its second share under 10% in the past four years. Breakfast was down only marginally, but a 9.5% share is close to its lowest in two years.

4KQ 8.7%: This is a bit of a pullback after the station’s 10.5% share in survey 4, but it still ranks as one of 4KQ’s better shares of the past few years. Breakfast dropped fairly dramatically too from 10.4% to 8.3%. In fact no one escaped – morning and afternoon were both down close to 2.0 each and drive was off 1.3.

4BC 6.7%: Did Brisbane listeners react quickly to the recent Alan Jones controversy? No. The drop in share 10+ (-1.1 to 6.7%) and breakfast (-1.4 to 7.5%) is part of the usual ebb and flow in surveys. A 7.5% for Jones in breakfast now is better than all but one of his results last year.

Macquarie Sports 882 1.5%: Share jumped by 50%, but it’s still a tiny number. Best results are in drive (2.1%) and evening (1.5%).
