Beauty and the Geek: Everything you need to know

Beauty and the Geek

• The 10 beauties and 10 geeks work together through a series of real-life challenges

Discover if opposites really do attract when one of Australia’s most heartfelt TV series, Beauty and the Geek, premieres on Sunday, July 11, at 7.00pm on Nine and 9Now.

The 2021 reboot, hosted by Sophie Monk, has all the fun of the original series with a new layer of heart and warmth.

The 10 beauties and 10 geeks work together through a series of real-life challenges in the search to find a romantic spark or a lifelong friendship. Connections are made as two very different worlds collide and strong partnerships bloom in the most unlikely places.

The beauties have their eyes and hearts opened to new possibilities as they help the geeks find their voice, and in return learn a thing or two from the geeks about stepping outside of their comfort zones.

The makeovers are back. The geeks undergo physical transformations to the delight of their beauties, and along with it a new layer of confidence.

The winning couples from each night’s challenge score one-on-one date time which could help them seed a connection and solidify a relationship. The couples who are not so successful, however, may end up in the bottom two, forced to duel it out in a challenge which will result in the losing couple going home. At the end of the series one couple will be declared the winner and take home $100,000.

Meet The Host

Sophie Monk rose to prominence as a member of the girl group Bardot after success in the Australian reality television series Popstars. Bardot became the first Australian act to debut at the No. 1 position with both their debut single Poison and self-titled debut album.

In 2005, Sophie relocated to LA to focus further upon her acting. Monk quickly found her feet in Hollywood, and appeared in films such as Date Movie (2006), Click (2006) and Spring Breakdown (2009). She also made her American television debut with a role in the HBO series Entourage.

She was declared the winner of the fourth season of The Celebrity Apprentice Australia in 2015 and in 2016 was a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.

A self- confessed “dork”, Sophie has endeared herself to the Australian public across recent years as a host on 2Day FM and as a regular fixture on KIIS 1065.

Prior to hosting Nine’s Beauty and the Geek, she hosted two seasons of Love Island Australia, and was The Bachelorette in 2017.

Sophie Monk is a proud supporter of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Speaking about the show, she says: “A lot has changed since Beauty and the Geek was last on our screens. Today, geeks run the world and beauties are far more than just a pretty face. I can’t wait for audiences to watch on as they embark on a journey of self-discovery and see if we’re able to answer the age-old question – can opposites attract?”
