BBC Studios has appointed Liz Baldwin as its new senior vice president and head of streaming and channels for Australia and New Zealand, in a newly created role starting 31 August.
Baldwin joins from Tapt Media, formerly a division of Nine, where she serves as head of digital growth and strategy. Before that, she spent time at Paramount Australia and New Zealand as senior vice president and head of streaming, overseeing large-scale digital transformation.
In her new role, Baldwin will lead BBC Studios’ streaming and channel strategy across both markets, overseeing its portfolio of BBC-branded linear channels and subscription streaming service BritBox Australia.
A new seat at the table
Robi Stanton, president of media and streaming and general manager APAC at BBC Studios, said Baldwin’s commercial and creative credentials made her the right fit for the role.
“Liz is an exceptional leader with deep expertise across streaming, digital strategy and transformation. Her ability to combine commercial discipline with innovation, alongside her passion for building strong, inclusive teams, makes her a perfect fit for this role,” Stanton said.
Baldwin said she was drawn by the scale of the opportunity.
“BBC Studios’ commitment to world-class content, combined with its growing streaming and digital ambitions, creates a fantastic opportunity. I look forward to working with the team to grow audiences, strengthen partnerships and continue delivering exceptional experiences for viewers across Australia and New Zealand,” she said.
BBC Studios operates 13 channels across the ANZ region, including BBC UKTV and BBC News on Foxtel, six FAST channels on 9Now, and BBC UKTV, BBC Earth, and CBeebies on Sky TV in New Zealand.
