ARIA Charts: TikTok sees Russ Millions & Tion Wayne dance to #1

Russ Millions

• Amy Shark holds albums chart #1 for second week in a row

Thanks to its use as the soundtrack to a viral trend on TikTok, Body by Russ Millions and Tion Wayne hits #1 on the ARIA singles chart. Climbing from #3 to #1 in its sixth week in the top 50, it becomes the first British hip hop single to top the charts in Australia.

In the TikTok trend, people switch up their outfits in a transition from their regular clothes to dressing like drill rappers.

The highest ranking Australian single this week is The Kid Laroi in #3 with the new remix of his song Without You featuring Miley Cyrus. Topping the chart last week, The Kid Laroi was the first Australian artist to hit #1 on the ARIA singles chart since January 2020, when Tones And I ended her 24-week-run in the top spot with Dance Monkey.

Ahead of the release of his sixth album, The Off-Season, American rapper J. Cole hits the singles chart at #20 with i n t e r l u d e. It becomes his first appearance in the top 50 since Middle Child in 2019. The Off-Season is the follow-up to KOD, which topped the chart in April 2018, and is likely to make an impact on next week’s albums chart.

P!nk scores her second chart entry for 2021 as she releases All I Know So Far. It’s the title track to her upcoming album All I Know So Far: Setlist, set for release on May 21st. The album will serve as the soundtrack to the live concert/documentary film of the same name. Earlier in 2021, P!nk hit the chart with Cover Me In Sunshine, a collaboration with her daughter Willow Sage Hart.

Coldplay make their first singles chart appearance since 2017 as they release Higher Power coming in at #44, giving the track its live premiere during the Brit Awards ceremony on May 11th in London. Coldplay last charted on the singles chart when they collaborated with The Chainsmokers on Something Just Like This in 2017. The band last topped the albums chart with Everyday Life in December 2019.

The other new entry to the chart this week is Trippie Redd featuring Playboi Carti with Miss The Rage at #31.

Amy Shark holds the #1 spot on the ARIA albums chart for a second week with Cry Forever. It gives the singer-songwriter her longest run in the top spot, having spent one week there with debut album Love Monster in July 2018. Cry Forever becomes the first Australian album to spend more than one week at the top of the chart since AC/DC’s PWR/UP in November 2020, which spent four straight weeks at #1.

Rag’n’Bone Man takes out his second top ten entry on the ARIA albums chart with Life By Misadventure at #4. The British singer-songwriter’s second album comes more than four years on from Human and includes the duet with P!nk, Anywhere Away From Here.

In its 107th week in the top 50, Maroon 5’s compilation Singles Collection claims a new peak at #16. During its run on the chart, the album has previously peaked at #17 twice. Their new album, Jordi, will be released on June 11th. The single Beautiful Mistakes currently sits at #40.

Veteran singer Van Morrison hits the chart at #41 with his eighth studio album in seven years, Latest Record Project Volume 1. Morrison’s 42nd studio album follows 2019’s Three Chords And The Truth and includes the tracks Stop Bitching, Do Something, They Own the Media and Why Are You on Facebook?.

Three albums mark their 130th week in the chart this week: Diamonds by Elton John, Doo-Wops & Hooligans by Bruno Mars, and Dua Lipa’s self titled album.
