Seven wins 23rd week of the calendar year, 16th of survey year

Seven had just one episode of The Voice on offer last week, but the AFL Finals kept the broadcaster at #1.

Nine managed to close the gap though as the cheating controversy on The Block helped fuel good numbers across the week.

In the VOZ data release for Total TV for Week 35, Seven commanded the biggest audiences. The analysis below separates out the Total TV highlights from the Overnight numbers. The Total TV audience combines metro and regional Consolidated 7 numbers plus those watching on BVOD.

Seven overnights Week 37

22.6% primary share, 3.9% 7mate, 31.4% network share

For the fifth week in a row Seven News Sunday was the most-watched program of the week with 1.139m. Seven News M-F and Saturday then took three of the next five spots in the rankings, giving Seven News four of the top six for Week 37.

The Voice was the most-watched entertainment show of the week with the penultimate episode of the series on 1.088m keeping its metro overnight average over 1m.

The metro audiences for the Friday (1.012m) and Saturday (920,000) AFL Finals helped keep Seven’s share close to its previous week number.

Home and Away was on 599,000 after 631,000 in Week 36.

Other programming to crack half a million was Homicide: With Ron Iddles on 567,000 and The Chase on 547,000.

The latest available VOZ data covers Week 35 and Seven had seven of the top eight shows.

All three episodes of The Voice that week were over 2m. The Voice had the biggest single BVOD audience for that week with 259,000 watching the Sunday episode.

Home and Away was just short of 1.3m and the episode of the drama RFDS did 1.148m.

Nine overnights Week 37

21.0% primary share, 28.5% network share

Nine News Sunday was the most-watched Nine program of the week with 1.112m, narrowly trailing Seven News Sunday.

The Block had its first 1m metro overnight audience with the Sunday episode audience growing week-on-week from 827,000 to 1.037m. The Tuesday episode got close with 969,000 with the Monday and Wednesday episodes were close to 850,000.

A Current Affair lifted to 770,000 from 735,000 the week prior.

Two of the three Rugby League finals Nine screened this week were just over 500,000 while the other on Saturday afternoon was on 453,000.

60 Minutes was just over half a million while The One Hundred with Andy Lee and Hot Seat were just under.

The Sunday episode of The Block was over 1.4m with the other episodes that week over 1.1m.

A Current Affair was on 1.161m.

 

10 Overnights Week 37

11.4% primary share, 17.6% network share

The Monday episode of Australian Survivor had the network’s biggest audience with 761,000. The Sunday episode was on 689,000.

Have You Been Paying Attention? was just over 700,000, well up from 637,000 the week prior.

The new season of Gogglebox started on 630,000

The two-part Todd Sampson special Mirror Mirror launched on 572,000 and then climbed to 615,000 for the second episode.

The Project 7pm was on 485,000, close to the previous week’s 491,000.

All three episodes of Australian Survivor were over 1m with the biggest crowd of 1.161m watching on Tuesday.

Have You Been Paying Attention? was on 1.121m.

 

ABC Overnights Week 37

10.8% primary share, 14.9% network share

ABC News weekdays (689,000) and Sunday (653,000) had the biggest audiences of the week.

The next biggest crowds were watching Australian Story (617,000), Hard Quiz (587,000) and 7.30 (580,000).

Four Corners and Media Watch were both close to 470,000.

ABC News made it over 1m on all seven nights of the week.

Four Corners was on 1.106m and The Newsreader climbed to 1.080m.

 

SBS Overnights Week 37

4.5% primary share, 7.6% network share

The repeat screening of Great Asian Railway Journeys had the best ratings with 229,000.

Also over 200,000 were the documentaries 9/11: The Falling Man, 9/11 Escape from the Impact Zone and Anne: The Princes Royal at 70.

What Does Australia Really Think About topped the rankings for SBS with 432,000.

The next best four were all over 300,000 – Who Do You Think You Are?, Secret Scotland, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Great Asian Railway Journeys.
