Seven wins 21st week of the calendar year, 14th of survey year

TV ratings: Seven 24.1% primary share, 6.4% 7mate, 35.5% network share

The TV ratings chart is again dominated by Seven with the leading programs in the key genres. Seven News was #1 on all nights at 6pm, The Voice was the #1 entertainment program and the AFL Finals had the biggest sports audiences of the week.

All episodes of The Voice had an audience over 1.1m which is pretty much unheard of these days. When you factor in the Total TV audience (catchup and 7plus) they climb even higher.

The AFL night finals on Friday and Saturday both had audiences over 800,000.

Home and Away averaged 650,000 for the week after 669,000 the week prior.

The mid-week Paralympics Opening Ceremony was on 643,000.

Some of the demo wins claims:

Seven Network: #1 in total people, 25 to 54s, 16 to 39s and under 50s in calendar year.

Seven Network: #1 in survey year (excluding Easter and Olympics) with a 39.0% year-to-date commercial share.

Channel 7: #1 in calendar year with a 27.6% year-to-date commercial share. #1 in 25 to 54s.

Nine: 18.0% primary share, 25.4% network share

Nine News Sunday and Nine News M-F 6pm both averaged over 1m.

One of the areas where Nine is becoming more competitive is in breakfast TV with Today winning Melbourne, Brisbane and the east coast. Today was also #1 in key demos across the five metro markets.

The Block Sunday was the broadcaster’s best entertainment program with 780,000 the best for the week and the series so far. The other three episodes were all over 600,000. Nine noted: The Block is also seeing substantial numbers on 9Now regularly pushing each episode to a cross platform audience in excess of 1.2 million.

A Current Affair averaged 728,000 after 710,000 last week.

60 Minutes made it over half a million with 529,000.

10: 10.8% primary share, 17.0% network share

The Monday episode of Australian Survivor was again the highest ranked of any of the channel’s shows. With 699,000 it was down marginally on the 733,000 watching that episode in Week 34. The Sunday and Tuesday episodes were not far from 700,000 either.

Monday continues to attract the primary channel’s best share of the week thanks also to Have You Been Paying Attention? With 663,000 the program dropped below 700,000, but it was still up on previous weeks.

The Project 7pm managed 473,000 after cracking 500,000 the week prior.

Both episodes of The Bachelor were in the mid-400,000s.

 

ABC: 10.4% primary share, 14.8% network share

The weekday 7pm News averaged bang on 700,000 with the weekend bulletins not far behind.

The controversial Four Corners episode on Fox News upset some, but it managed an audience of 585,000.

Close behind was Hard Quiz on 570,000.

Other programs to crack half a million last week were 7.30, the final of Joanna Lumley’s Britain, Australian Story and The Newsreader. Getting oh-so-close on 499,000 was the second of the Janine Perrett-hosted episodes of Media Watch.

SBS: 4.2% primary share, 7.4% network share

What Does Australia Really Think About topped the channel’s rankings with 240,000.

Also over 200,000 were a repeat episode of Who Do You Think You Are? on 228,000 and a repeat of Inside Windsor Castle on 208,000.
