TV Ratings April 2, 2022: AFL pushes Seven to easy win

• NRL tops STV in sport mad Saturday

The ABC’s Father Brown was the top non-news program in the total TV ratings with 727,000 viewers, an increase of 14%.

It was a good night for the ABC with Unforgotten also performing well after increasing its overnight audience by 38% to bring its final viewership to 666,000.

The top commercial entertainment program was Space Invaders with 412,000, up 15%.

Overnight TV Ratings, April 2

Seven finished week 14 of the TV ratings survey off on a good note with a comfortable win in both primary channel share (24.6%) and network share (36.9%)

The main driver of success for Seven was its Saturday night AFL coverage which was the top non-news program of the night with 468,000 viewers.

On Nine, the Saturday edition of a Current Affair had 467,000 viewers while Getaway (286,000) and Space Invaders (256,000) were the top non-news programs of the day for the broadcaster.

On 10, the top non-news program was a repeat of Farm to Fork with 103,000 viewers. 

On the ABC, Father Brown was the public broadcaster’s top entertainment program with 447,000 viewers, followed closely by Unforgotten with 279,000 viewers.

The top non-news program on SBS was Princess Diana’s ‘Wicked’ Stepmother with 103,000 viewers.

STV

Sport was the headline act on Foxtel yesterday with the pay-TV broadcaster’s top 20 ranking spots all taken up by the sports channels. 

The NRL match between the Brisbane Broncos and the New Zealand Warriors was the top rating broadcast of the day with 220,000 viewers. This was followed by The NRL match between the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles and the Canberra Raiders which had 214,000 viewers. The final NRL match of the night between the North Queensland Cowboys and the Sydney Roosters then had 195,000 viewers.

The AFL match between Collingwood and Geelong had 198,000 tune in on Fox Footy. The other AFL matches of the day also rated well as the match between the Gold Coast Suns and Greater Western Sydney Giants had 134,000 viewers on Fox Footy, and the match between the Brisbane Lions and the North Melbourne Kangaroos had 75,000 viewers on Fox Sports 503.

The AFLW finals also featured yesterday with the Adelaide Crows and Fremantle Dockers having 59,000 tune in and the Melbourne Demons and the Brisbane Lions having 36,000 viewers.

The ODI between Australia and Pakistan on Fox Cricket had 41,000 viewers.
