On December 22, Paul Gallen will return to the ring for the first time since his devastating loss to Justis Huni in June. This time around, he will take on former Manly and Parramatta forward Darcy Lussick. Gallen was originally scheduled to fight Manly forward Josh Aloiai on December 10, but Aloiai was forced to withdraw after contracting COVID-19. All the action will be available to watch on Main Event through either Foxtel or Kayo.
Stepping in at the last minute, Lussick hasn’t had as much time as Gallen to prepare for the fight. Despite only having fought in one professional fight to date, he stunned fans with his knockout win over Broncos star Justin Hodges in the first round. Gallen’s fight with Aloiai was set for six two-minute rounds, but the new fixture will have three two-minute rounds.
“I feel good, I’m definitely ready,” Gallen said. “It’s been a long preparation, postponed and everything. I’m ready, I’ve really clicked into gear the last couple of weeks. I was pretty passive when Darcy was announced a month ago.”
Also featured on the card is Olympic bronze medallist Harry Garside in his pro debut.
